Sensei Sean Watkins began his martial arts journey at the age of seven under Hanshi Roger Jarrett at the headquarters school of USA Martial Arts Federation in Saint Albans, WV. He immediately fell in love with martial arts and began training five days a week. That passion led to joining the traveling competition team which then led to countless regional medals, five national gold medals, and a spot on the Jr. US Team.

While on the Jr. US Team, he travelled all over the world, bringing home two silver medals from the Pan-American Championships. In 2002, he was inducted into the USA Karate Federation's Hall of Fame as Jr. Male Athlete of the Year. His athletic career took a back seat to academics throughout his four years at Marshall University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Theatre and BA in Spanish.

After university, he had a successful acting career in New York City appearing in shows such as Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast, and West Side Story. However, his hunger for martial arts persevered, and he eventually teamed up with Sensei David Rosenberg, owner of Kicking the Spectrum. Together, they ran a dojo in Manhattan for several years.

After some time, Sensei Watkins wanted to be closer to his family. So, he packed up his life and met them here in Fernandina Beach. He hopes that martial arts will provide an outlet to the community by giving his students the same opportunities that he had. Martial arts changed his life, so he hopes that many others experience the life-changing effects of martial arts!
